'this world is full of magical places, inviting us to peace. places we can sit, dream, and simply be. ' LUKA BLOOM. These images reflect spending many seasons with the forest, mainly in Ireland.
The images were made using a 4x5 wooden pinhole camera with tri-x film. The pinhole camera invites one to imagine the image- as there is no way to preview or frame in a traditional way. Exposures ranged from 6 seconds to 30 minutes. The images were initially printed on silver bromide agfa brovira paper. Large paper negatives were made from these, and contact Kallitype prints were produced- each an original with contrast and exposure varying with the season, the weather, and the amount of sunlight. The 'black' Kallitypes are produced on a very hot sunny day. The lith images were printed on Foma bromide paper and developed with Moersch easylith.
